Privacy Policy
Last updated
This policy describes what happens to information when you visit thinkless.com. It is short because the site does very little: there are no accounts, no payments, no advertising, and no analytics.
The short version
- We do not set cookies, and there is nothing to accept or decline.
- We do not run analytics, advertising or tracking pixels of any kind.
- We do not ask you to create an account, and we sell nothing here.
- Three third parties see your IP address when you open a page carrying a hosted film, play a film, or view an embedded post — because that is how those features work. They are named below.
- If you email us, we have your email — the same as any other email you send anyone.
- If you sign up for the newsletter we keep your address, and only after you confirm it by clicking a link we send you.
Interpretation and definitions
“We”, “us” and “Think Less” mean Think Less, LLC, a creative and technology studio based in Salt Lake City, Utah.
“The site” means thinkless.com and its pages.
“Personal data” means information that identifies you, or could reasonably be used to identify you — your name and email address if you write to us, and your IP address, which every website you visit necessarily receives.
“Usage data” means the technical record a web server keeps of a request: the page asked for, the time, the browser and operating system, and the IP address it came from.
What we collect
Server logs. The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard request logs — the page requested, the time, the browser, and the IP address. We use these to keep the site running and to understand failures. We do not build profiles from them and we do not combine them with anything else.
Error reports. If a page breaks in your browser, it sends us a short technical report: the error message, the page it happened on, and your browser version. It is written to our server log and, if configured, posted to an internal channel so a person sees it. It is not stored in a database, and it carries no name, no email and no identifier we could use to find you again.
Email you send us. Every contact route on this site is a plain mailto: link — there is no contact form. When you write to hello@thinkless.com or press@thinkless.com, your message arrives in our inbox and stays there like any other correspondence.
Your address, if you subscribe to the newsletter. The footer signup takes an email address and nothing else — no name, no company, no checkbox we pre-ticked. It is stored by Resend, our email provider, described below. We ask you to confirm by clicking a link before you are added, so an address someone else typed in never joins the list. Until you click, it sits with us unsubscribed and receives nothing; if you never click, that is where it stays.
We do not track whether you open the newsletter or which links you click. Those features exist in our provider and are switched off — there is no tracking pixel in the email and its links are not rewritten to route through us. Every send carries an unsubscribe link, and using it is the end of it.
What we do not collect
We want to be specific, because most policies are vague here. As of the date above, this site runs no analytics platform, no tag manager, no advertising or conversion pixel, no session recorder, and no A/B testing tool. It sets no cookies of its own. Our typefaces are served from our own servers, so no font provider is told what you are reading. We have no account system, so there is nothing to register, and no payment system, so there is nothing to bill.
Third parties
Three services are embedded in the site. When their content loads, they receive your IP address and basic browser information directly, and their own privacy policies govern what they do with it. We have no access to what they collect.
Cloudflare Stream hosts and delivers some of the video on our project pages. It is contacted when a page containing a hosted film loads. Cloudflare’s privacy policy ↗
Instagram (Meta) supplies the embedded posts on one project page. Those embeds are loaded only when you scroll near them, and only on the pages that use them. Meta’s privacy policy ↗
YouTube (Google) hosts two films whose canonical home is YouTube rather than our own player — the 805 Beer spot and the Dear Class of 2020 event. They are embedded in privacy-enhanced mode, on youtube-nocookie.com, and nothing is requested from Google until you press play. Once you do, YouTube receives your IP address and may set its own storage in your browser, as it would on any site. Google’s privacy policy ↗
Resend is different from the three above, and the difference matters. It is not embedded in any page and your browser never contacts it — loading this site tells Resend nothing about you. It stores the newsletter list, so it holds your address only if you subscribed, and it sends the confirmation and the newsletter on our behalf. It processes that address on our instructions and for nothing else. Resend’s privacy policy ↗
Cookies
We do not set any. There is no cookie banner on this site because there is nothing to consent to. The embedded services named above may set their own cookies in your browser when their content loads — particularly if you are already signed in to them — and that is between you and them. Your browser settings control it, and blocking those cookies does not stop the rest of the site working.
How long we keep things
Server logs and error reports are short-lived operational records held by our hosting provider and are not archived by us. Email you send us is kept for as long as the working relationship or the enquiry warrants, and can be deleted on request. A newsletter address is kept until you unsubscribe — at which point it stops receiving anything — and is deleted outright if you ask us to remove it. An address that was entered but never confirmed is never sent to and can be deleted on the same request.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for advertising. The only parties who see anything are the service providers described above, acting as our infrastructure.
We would disclose information if we were legally required to — a valid court order or a lawful request from a public authority. If Think Less were ever part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information held at that time could transfer with the business, and we would say so before it did.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, or to object to how it is used. Because we hold so little, the honest answer to most such requests is that there is nothing to produce beyond email correspondence. Ask us anyway and we will tell you exactly what we have.
Write to hello@thinkless.com and we will respond.
Children
This site is aimed at people commissioning production work. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
If what the site does changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top changes too. Material changes will be reflected here rather than announced individually.
