The challenge

Chaos and control, in black and white.

The dunes reflected in a rider’s goggle lens.

For 805 Beer, Think Less produced Duality, a 3:42 black-and-white film with Tyler Bereman and Vicki Golden on the dunes, one rider in white and one in black, with a :30 spot and a run of social cuts.

805 Beer, brewed by Firestone Walker in Paso Robles, California, wanted a moto film that felt different: raw and stripped back. Think Less produced it, with the X Games medalists Tyler Bereman and Vicki Golden.

The strategy

One rider in white, one in black.

805 describes Duality as inspired by Spy vs. Spy: a film about opposites, light and dark, chaos and control. So it is in black and white, and Tyler Bereman and Vicki Golden ride it dressed as the two halves.

  1. 01

    Two riders, two colours

Tyler in white, Vicki in black, from the first frame to the last.

  2. 02

    Black and white only

Sand, spray, sky and the riders, with nothing else in the frame to compete.

  3. 03

    One take where it counts

The one-shot cuts hold a single unbroken take of a rider carving a dune.

What made it hard

Two riders, one dune field, three days.

Two riders, one dune field and three days, 25 to 27 March 2025, to make a film, a :30 and every social cut 805 needed, all of it in black and white.

  • 3Days of filming, 25 to 27 March 2025
  • 2Riders: Tyler Bereman and Vicki Golden
  • 9Cuts delivered, from the film to the verticals

What we made

A rider’s boot and bike throwing a wall of sand.
Tyler Bereman from behind, number 653, in a cloud of sand.
A helmet and goggles, close, at speed.
A gloved hand and an 805 can.
The goggle strap and helmet from the rider’s shoulder.
A front wheel turning through the sand.

Duality, a 3:42 film, released on 805 Beer’s YouTube on 3 November 2025 and past 86,000 views a year later, with a :30 spot and seven social cuts: a 16:9 one shot, three vertical one shots of Tyler and Vicki, and three cinematic cuts.

How we did it

Hold the take, and let the sand do the rest.

Both riders on the same dunes, with a drone overhead, and the camera held on single takes long enough to see a whole turn: the rider into the crest, the sand thrown off it, and the rider back out through the spray.

The dunes, March 2025
